About Rocio

An accomplished and dedicated Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Rocio completed her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner education at St. Thomas University in 2023, building upon her previous nursing foundation from Florida International University. Her diverse healthcare background includes serving five years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class and Medical/Dental Assistant, where she demonstrated the ability to make sound, timely decisions in high-stress and complex situations.

In her role at Metro Healthy Communities, Rocio brings a strong commitment to collaborative, team-based care. She is a specialist in comprehensive psychiatric assessments and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. While her background is primarily in adult psychiatry, she is also highly motivated to develop expertise in pediatric psychiatry. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Rocio focuses on providing tailored medication management and psychotherapy for individuals, groups, and families to support them in overcoming daily challenges.

Beyond her professional clinical life, Rocio is dedicated to community service through her mentoring work with the Calvary Chapel Prison Ministry. She builds trusting relationships with inmates to help them transition back into society as contributing members, teaching practical lessons on parenthood, patience, and cross-cultural communication. Rocio’s multifaceted abilities and professional drive to serve the mental health community make her an invaluable asset at Metro Healthy Communities.
