Got Health Insurance? Learn How to Copay It Forward™.

Did you know it’s possible for insured patients to make an impact –just by being a patient of Metro Healthy Communities?

We believe that no one, regardless of insurance status, should be denied quality, life-changing care. For those without insurance coverage, healthcare services and prescription expenses can add up fast. But that’s where insured patients and Copay It Forward™ comes in.

What is Copay It Forward?

Since its inception in 2018, insured patients receiving medical care from a Metro Healthy Communities provider have helped power over $3,200,000 in free healthcare services to uninsured members of our Tampa Bay community. How? By participating in METRO’s exclusive Copay It Forward program and at no extra cost to them. It’s easy!

Become a METRO patient and use your insurance fill prescriptions with one of METRO’s pharmacies to get your prescriptions delivered discreetly to your door. With locations on Central Avenue in St. Pete or Florida Avenue in Tampa, you can also opt for same-day pickup. Patients may also qualify for up to $100 in monthly copay assistance making their medications virtually free while benefitting our community.

If one of METRO’s two pharmacies is not convenient for you, patients may also pick from one of over 60 area partner pharmacies including CVS, Walgreens, Publix and dozens of others.

There’s one very important aspect of making this program work, however…

How does the program work?

There is no extra cost to insured patients, but you must be receiving care from a Metro Healthy Communities provider to Copay it Forward. As a nonprofit community health center, METRO can bill insurance companies standard rates, while receiving a discount for certain prescription medications. The difference creates funding that can support under-or-uninsured patients seeking care.

How does METRO use Copay It Forward funding?

While a number of organizations participate in what’s known as the 340b program, METRO has a longstanding commitment to putting that money to work in our community. Not only in the form of free healthcare services, but also for food security, housing security and to support job creation at our Tampa Bay area locations.

More Than Medicine: Supporting Nutrition & Whole-Person Health

Chronic conditions like HIV, diabetes, and high blood pressure don’t exist in a vacuum—and neither does healthcare at METRO. Copay It Forward helps fund support services that include nutritional assistance and education, because we understand that food is medicine. Access to healthy meals and guidance on what to eat can make a meaningful difference in treatment outcomes and overall well-being. With every prescription you fill, you’re helping to fund the kind of care that nourishes the whole person.

What kind of healthcare is provided through Copay It Forward?

The short answer is, anything we offer. This includes primary or pediatric care to life-saving HIV care and behavioral health services, as well as medication copay assistance.
